Building Information Management (BIM)

Building Information Management (BIM) refers to the practice of organizing project design information using a computerized relational database. Heretofore challenging due to the graphical nature of architecture-engineering projects, BIM has been enabled by advances in computer graphics software that incorporate relational database functionality into the design and production drawing process.

Purchased by Autodesk in 2003?, Revit is arguably the market leader in BIM technology.
